Hazards identification and risk assessment for UAV–assisted bridge inspections

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) technology has found its way into several civilian applications in the last 20 years, predominantly due to lower cost and tangible scientific improvements. In application structural bridge inspection, UAVs provide two main functions. The first, being most common, detect damage through visual sensors. 2 D image data can be used quickly establish a basic knowledge of structure's condition is usually first port call. second reconstructs 3D models permanent record geometry for each asset, which could navigation control purposes. However, there are various types hazards risks associated with use particular, cold operating environment. this study, systematic methodology, an integration hazard identification, expert judgment, risk assessment preliminary analysis (PHA) UAV-assisted inspection system proposed. proposed methodology developed exemplified via Grimsøy bridge, 71.3 m concrete located Viken county eastern Norway.
